Health check is a scheme drawn up for get police to show up and do your bidding.

It leverages the legal system against the police that would otherwise know not to waste their time, but are compelled to, else they risk lawsuit if the person actually is suicidal. The better the actor is at using buzz words when pretending to act concerned for somebodys well-being, the more threatened the police feel into having to do their dirty work.

This can happen with neighbors who want to fuck with you and leverage your dog into a story, for example. A malicious neighbor exaggerates a story that your animal has been totally locked outside and has been barking for 14 hours straight, and police have no choice but to take the call. When confronted police approach the situation as if they're dealing with an animal cruelty situation, and are trained to apply maximum pressure, including carting your animal away (or shooting them) to prevent a lawsuit; all the while the neighbor is really just lying their ass off in order to exact revenge since their open house did not exactly go to plan with dogs barking.

In short - police are often "doing their job" of being liars' and lawyer's pets leashes. They are the trained dogs.

Your only defense against this type of attack if confronted by police is "tell X I am going to press charges against them if they purposefully give a false statement to police. I have recorded proof that what they're saying is false, and it would be best for everyone to ask them if they want to re-clarify their story." (Even if you dont have anything recorded, it will sow enough doubt that you do and make them fix their lies.) Then say nothing else about anything except to "everyone is safe and going home, if you need more information we can do that when my lawyer is present."

More importantly, “health check” is used as a workaround of the fourth amendment. Get it all on video of your refusal to allow the “health check”. They will use the word check or inspection to avoid the use of the word search. Don’t allow the police entry until they forcibly enter and cuff you. The only words from your mouth should be “I do not consent to a search” and “I don’t answer Questions”. Don’t tell them your name, don’t give them your ID, nothing. Your only other words besides the two phrases already noted should only be “what crime do you suspect me of committing” and “I do not have to ID myself unless you have reasonable articulable suspicion that I am, have or are about to commit a crime”. Verify you are in a state that you aren’t required to present ID if you didn’t do shit before you use that, of course.

Do that and only that. When they cuff you and force entry when it’s unlawful for them to do so, you now have a case for being illegally detained and a violation of the fourth amendment at a minimum. Lawyer up and go to court so you can get paid.
