I think it's important to remember that for every actual crime committed 20 or $30, 000 people living in the country are terrorized and their way of life is changed forever. Whether that may mean suddenly feel like like they have to lock their doors or that they can't go out for a nightly stroll or they can't let their daughter run around and have a safe youthful childhood because there might be murderers or molesters out there. The individual crimes are tragic but it's the bigger assault on the lives of the terrorized that is the true cost of this.

and yet, each passing day has produced hundreds of new 'citizens'. The country must be enriched, right?
