Unless you buy it first, it's taking property that doesn't belong to you and destroying it, that's vandalism.
If we're talking about the shipments of the british tea company to the american colonies, that's also industrial sabotage.
If you purchased the tea first, that's littering, and if you purchased the tea before dumping it, then the british tea company are still getting paid for the shipment, so it's not as much of a case of rebellion then, is it?
The claim that it was a legal and nonviolent act of rebellion is a lie, the people guarding the shipments and the police who came to arrest the tea-dumpers were all resisted, and the events did contribute to the outbreak of actual fighting and killing in the american colonies.
The men of the time weren't pacifistic protestors exercising lawful acts of civil disobedience, they were the perpetrators of vandalism, theft, sabotage, and then evaded arrest after the fact, this was all just a prologue to when they would finally take up arms against the occupying force, and just start killing the agents of the state rather than trying another ignored and dismissed lobby to the british parliament.
For certain there were those who stood against the american rebellion, they may have well made up the majority of the people speaking on the rebel side, their names are not remembered, they ended up not mattering at all, the true rebels decided that their peaceful and lawful compatriot's idea of "rebellion" was ineffective and only guaranteed to end the interest in a more sovereign america, rather than to achieve it.
The war of independence wasnt actually one fought for independence from the british empire, it was instead fought to make america have a larger say in its own affairs while it remained within the possession of the british crown, they got a country when they never expected to, and drafted it in accordance to the best knowledge they had at the time improvising ideas from the various philosophers who had influenced them, america was also established by masons, at least one of whom had been a member of hellfire clubs and regularly partook in the purposefully degenerate practices of those infamous hell-seeking libertines.
These were the guys who killed a lot of people, fucked a lot more, and did a lot of drugs (mostly marijuana but also opium), owning plantations and growing their crops for the psychotropic effects they had when smoked or mixed with tea, these were gun shooting drug toking orgy attending men who also had time to be philosophers, military leaders, and eventually the founding statesmen of the american empire.
