I've pointed this out many times online and no one seems as surprised and enlightened as I have been about it.

1984 should or could have been called 2050 which is a scary accurate time line all things considered.

In the book it says something like this towards the end.

" newspeak will be fully implemented by the year 2050"

That might not be the exact quote but it's pretty close and the year 2050 is in there for sure.
