Theyre role is to pick on good jews to make jews worthy through persecution and suffering, as god ordained. But we should still hate them and blame them for carrying out their pre-ordained roles! I digress..) Cain is unworthy because fuck farmers. There’s no rhyme or reason, other than the Hebrews, Israelites were herders.

For whatever reason, historically, farmers have tended to be more peaceful. Pastoralists have tended to be more aggressive. Maybe because theyre so mobile. Pastoralists seem to be able to marshal certain skills to raid or conquer farmers and live off them. Mongols, PIE steppe herders, Fulani, etc. They tend to install themselves as nobility.

We know that this is what some of these semitic tribes were doing and that as the ME climate started to shift from a humid arable region to aan arid climate more suitable for herding. Herders tended to succeed at the expense of farmers under increasing stress. Todays arab bedoins are a good model for what hebrew/israelite people of that era were like— warlike and polygamous. Actually I believe some group of priests from an urban culture— perhaps from mesopotamia or egypts—joined these nomads and said “hey we’re one of you guys!” and jews became a mix of these groups. But the host culture was nomadic, so the narrative pandered to pastoralists as having some inherent virtue over farmers, who are all dirty, two-faced murderers. I think it’s anti-farmer propaganda. But then, I dont interpret it as a revelation from god, and you might.

I think settled people tend to have a stake in the preservation of a society, which they physically build and support. They tend to be self supporting and they build infrastracture to plan for the future and are conservative of its preservation.

Itinerants be they pastoralists or gypsies or niggers (or futures speculators) are not invested in a physical nation with infrastructure because they didnt build it. They are just passing through. They will exploit resources in an area as long as they can and then they move on. They frequently predate on settled groups. Gypsies evolved to be criminals and liars because it helps them exploit resources from settled communities. Same with irish travellers. Its the same sort of problem. If you didnt build it, but youre trying to get a piece of it, you are a parasite. Farmers build something nice and suddenly a whole bunch of non-farmers appear, looking for opportunities.

Maybe this was a lot of unnecessary elaboration, but my point is, I dont see the story at its face value but for what its underlying agenda may be in a conflict where pastoralists and their priests are trying to justify the exploitation of farmers.
