Modern ploughing turns the soil in order to get rid of weeds, but in doing so it exposes microbes under the soil that are vital for its wellbeing. These microbes, now exposed to the sun, die and the soil loses its fertility.
Permaculture proponents are all about no-till and mulch for soil preservation, which is great if you're a gardener. Not sure how large scale mono-croppers are supposed to implement that yet.
What the fuck do you think a plow does? We have been turning the soil and exposing those microbes since we moved out of the fucking caves. Plows predate the fucking wheel. OP you need to do more that just touch some grass. Go out side and plant something that will grow because I don't think you ever have.
Still "pumping" actually. Using the "gravity pump" (hose kickstarted by electric pump) to drain the water away. It's very slow but it works and it's fun. It's taken 6 hours to half drain the cellar. But the beauty of the gravity pump is I don't need to monitor it. I've gone shopping etc and left it.
