This is easy to defeat, just put a cover over the thermostat so it gets more cold from the wall and is insulated from the room. Even easier with a smart thermostat. Some also have a temperature calibration setting, so you can tell it it's wrong and actually several degrees cooler inside than it thinks it is.

You can even use a beer from the minibar to cool the thermostat. Stay away from the ice machine. Police are on to this scheme.

That’s the same temperate as in the notice. To convert Fahrenheit to Celsius just subtract 30 and divide by 2, so 68 Fahrenheit is about 19 Celsius (it’s actually 20 Celsius but that formula is good for pretty close estimates).

LOL that "smart thermostat" is going to allow the gubernment to tap right into your home and shut off your heat. Use a supplemental heat source? that "smart thermostat" is going to give them a record of the temperature not dropping. Dumb people buy "smart" things.... Really smart people make their own automated things on their own private network with raspberry pi and what have you but that's a lot of work just to be lazy.

68f is perfect anytime of year, but yeah putting limits on them is major fucked up

Notice though that the heat is turned off during the coldest parts of night. It will also take a couple of hours to heat back up, so that during winter from midnight to about 9am-10am it will be freezing. This will kill off the old, the sick, and many children.

Having heating off between 11PM and 5AM is pretty normal. Personally, I haven't even turned on heating.
