You should really look into learning and using an audio compressor. Would make it 10000x more listenable.

I have one enabled on OBS actually but I probably should also do it in post. It doesn't help that lots of guests have shitty mic setups, though.

I used to mess around with audio. I am tempted to see how I could fix it but I am busy with other shit. Found this on reddit, might help


A compressor turns a signal that is above the threshold down.

A [downward] expander turns a signal that is below the threshold down.

A compressor with a "negative ratio" turns a signal that is above the threshold up - also known as an upward expander.

So if a compressor might have a ratio of 2:1, an upward expander would have a ratio of 1:2.

Negative ratio is a common term but not quite accurate since it would imply a ratio like -1:2, My theory is that it means negative [gain reduction] ratio ie opposite of reducing gain is increasing it.

Edit: In theory there could also be 1:-2 ratio, where quiet signals below the threshold would be increased but as far as I know only FL's Maximus can do it.
