Agreed but the oil industry appears to be in lock step with "record profits" I believe. I think the last thing they want is to bring more oil into a highly tuned supply and demand chain that ensures profit by keeping supply in check.
Energy sells itself, they don't have to worry about being profitable unless they do something so catastrophically stupid like starting WW3, that no one can use energy because they're all dead.
