Im obsessed with race and why certain groups act differently from others. So Ive read a bit about the racial heritage of these asian groups. Eastern eurasians (including SE asians) are heavily descended from a group they call basal east asian which arose ~25 kya or so, and Im guessing this group had most of the “oriental” features we recognize. But japanese, koreans, and northern hans are heavily descended from a group of rice farmers that is only 5000 years old. Southern Han and other groups south of the yangtze are significantly descended from other groups that the Northern Han colonized and incorporated in to china more recently. Those people are more related to the hmong of vietnam and laos, austroasiatics speakers like ethnic vietnamese and cambodians, ethnic thais and others. As is true in western eurasia, the more intelligent industrious people arose in the north and they colonized and mixed with groups that were more corrupt and less industrious. Even southern chinese are a shadier, more criminal culture than the northerners because they are not the same genetically however much the government tries to sell the idea of a single Han ethnicity.

In SE asia you have terrible crime, a large illicit drug industry, rampant prostitution, violence, fraud, poverty, poor infrastructure. They are their mexicans. They even have their own version of niggers if you go far enough southward. Its remarkable that this north/south cline among people seems to have occured separately in two separate parts of the globe. The tropics don’t breed honest hard working folks
