One year ago I posted my Weather prediction here based upon the behavior of my bears....it was terribly accurate and this winter season, according to my observations, will "bear" down harder.

Last year my big guy Brutus went into heat near the end of June, 2 weeks earlier than usual. This year it's like he went into heat soon after he woke from hibernation. The end of May saw Brutus with 6-8 female bears, one not even 2 years of age yet. I have noticed in the past few years that bears are breeding younger today.

Anyways, as of this post, the bears have consumed nearly 2,000lbs of peanuts and 500lbs of black oil seed, this is for my 3 home bears, but at different times I had as many as 14 bears here and on average there'd be 7-8 bears every day.

Last year's feeding ended around end of October but just a few years ago they were feeding up until December...this is the 1st time I've seen them not eating much this time of year, they're slowing down and getting lethargic, they've got dens in the backyard but are passing out under my pine trees, Brutus parked his fat ass on top of my wife's flower bed and wouldn't move for the day.

They went into heat earlier than last year, they really packed on the fat and their hide was thick with rich blue fur by September.

Woke up this morning to snow and it's only mid October. It's 17.30hrs, wet snow rain mix, miserable and no bears, part of me wants to visit the dens but it's best I don't.

As Brutus was licking honey from my hands the other day I was talking to him about how long the fucking winters are and how fortunate he was to sleep it away.
