I just found out my grand father had a second family.

I now have an uncle and a cousin I never knew.

This is specially important for my dad as he only had sisters. For the first time he has a brother.

My grandpa is dead and we are not goint to tell grandma.

Next year when I go to my country (as I do every year) Im going with my dad and we are going to meet him.

I don't know, I just felt like sharing.

She had a botched operation on the leg when she was young. Has not been able to walk properly ever since. Never the less, she had 5 children. 1 died in her late teens.

It was a different time in a different society. It was very machista and common to have mistresses.

I'm happy. My father never had a brother. Now he found one in his old age (there are pictures and even a birth certificate). Whatever sin was committed died with my grandpa.

One of my parents had a half sibling. Sort of suspected to find their kids when I did an ancestry 23 and me type thing. So far nothing.

If I did find them I don't know if I would reach out. Would probably want to research them first. Dont need family problems.

Nah it's very common to give a first born the father's name and if he was hiding it from the 2nd wife might have had to do it.

My great-great-grandpa supposedly abandoned his family during hard times, leaving my great grandpa only a pocket watch. But that was so far before my time, I don't really know anything about it. My dad has a pocket watch that is supposedly the result of this, however.

My father's father's father (Great Grandpa) was an old man by the time I was born and didn't talk much --- whether by nature or due to getting hard of hearing and being from a generation that didn't waste money on frivolities like hearing aids, I dunno.
