I'm also team Floor, but the old stuff was written with Tarja in mind, and it shows. I do prefer pre-Poet Nightwish as well.
Tarja's got that nice operatic quality. Floor has incredible range, and has come a LONG way since her After Forever days. Too bad she got tatts during menopause after not having them her whole life.
Unpopular opinion: I liked Anette. She didn't have quite the training or range that the other two have, but she has a sweet, younger sounding voice and she plays her strengths.
Edit: On a somewhat related note, I'm PISSED that Chloe Bray left Sojourner and they replaced her with fucking Heike Langhans, Draconian's last vocalist. I never warmed to her at all.
Just saw Simone Simons live opening for Sabaton, and holy cow, she has maintained her pipes through it all. She stole the show, crowd was either amped or in awe.
That's a helluva ticket and had to be a killer show to attend. They're both highly skilled. Too bad Sabaton has a few "Muh EBIL Nazi!" songs, and that turns me off of them a bit. I suppose they wouldn't be commercially viable if they didn't.
They havent put out a muh EBIL Nazi song since their initial 2 albums released in 2007.
Hell they open every show, even in Berlin, with Ghost division.
The setlist started with:
Ghost Division (Rommels invasion of France) Storm troopers (Speed tactics and the invention of the blitzkrieg at end of The Great War) Red Baron (Duh) Bismarck (The Battleship, not the man)
That's how they are starting all their USA shows.
They were unable to release their initial album in Germany and Austria until they added Rise of Evil, meaning their second album actually released before their first, lol.
I do think it's funny that the "Rise of Evil" chorus starts with "See the Eagle rising, the Reich Will Rise!"
