I've seen it mentioned here and there that Columbus was jewish.

Some jews do indeed view Columbus as their own. A strong argument that he was a crypto-jew is the fact that in the same year, 1492, as the expedition, the Spanish throne expelled the jews because of the uncontrolled power and ownership of key positions, especially in finance. I think Columbus was a crypto-jew sent as an advance scout to look for a new home for Spanish and Portuguese jews, a place where they could do as they wanted. His two closest crewmen were jews, and the expedition was financed by jews. These last two points are absolutely true.
