Why the military aren't using silencers?

It's really possible to harm ears when shooting from a machine gun. Why the military aren't using mandatory silencers?

Ear plugs are cheaper, especially when going with lowest GSA contract bidder.

weight, cumbersome, finite life, doesn't stop mach cone. Muffs or plugs are cheaper and way better.

In actual life-or-death hearing can take a back seat; things like mowing down country music fans you can simply wear the right ppe.

Silencers are fake and gay, sound suppressors change bullet dynamics and are probably worth more than the cost of basic training for meat shields.

Can't silence a rifle-caliber bullet. Most of the sound comes from the round breaking the sound barrier.

They're literally having little, not "silencers," but suppressors on every M5 rifle as standard now

Most people stop being pedantic about the terminology when they learn that the original suppressor patent was filed as a "silencer".
