If testosterone levels were the culprit, you would expect to see a huge difference in IQ between men and women because they obviously have a greater difference in testosterone levels. Epigenetic factors have been excluded from debate because people don't understand the full extent of their contributions yet. These include things like histone modification and DNA methylation. Evolutionary pressures are highly speculative and trying to say it's one thing or another is a fool's game. Its more than that. Whats the natural food of primates? Fruit. All the dumb monkeys have to live near places with a year round supply of it, because how else will the females feed themselves, their babies? The demands on the males as providers to mom and baby was therefore low. As some humans moved into colder regions, males had to provide more and more of the food in the form of meat (women can’t hunt). A higher resource investment from men demanded equivalent commitment from women: sexual fidelity, aka patriarchy. And in the harshest climates males who tried to support more than one family (polygyny) failed to out-reproduce the momogamists. So the monogamists won. The direct consequence of monogamy is higher availability of females and lower sexual competition among males.

You are probably underestimating how rapidly our “racial differences” evolve when we are put in new economic conditions. For instance I believe that the behavioral differences between highly related populations like the pakistanis and the northern hindus, or the greeks and the turks, are heavily due to genetic drift in the islamic populations toward the more agressive males, who out-reproduce monogamists by a wide margin in muslim regimes. Significant changes can occur to a population in 1000 years or less.

Males, in fact, evolve faster than females, as there is a much higher variability of reproductive success among males, e.g. an aggressive strain of males may very quickly propagate their aggressive genes throughout a society , or maybe a group of males who’ve mastered farming, or horsemanship. The female model has fewer updates, if you know what I mean.

Don’t underestimate how rapidly we can change without any introgression from a new population. A change in the frequency of certain genes will change the population.

East asians and southeast asians got alot of Neanderthal, more than western eurasians. But if I understand things correctly, middle easterners and southern euros have lower levels of neanderthal because they have higher ancestry from the ancient “basal eurasian” group, who never really left N. Africa/Middle East. They are a mix of basal eurasian and people who migrated south from colder regions like the caucasus.

There are some dudes that advocate a multiregional human evolutionary model that I think is closer to the truth than a highly simplified OOA theory. The traits that have developed as useful adaptations in a particular region tend to get preserved even when there is widescale demographic replacement.
