Marines did not immediately describe what type of training recruits were engaged in when Pong collapsed. Officials also didn't say why they waited 11 days to announce the death.

Every year a few recruits die in boot camp from various things. We'd really need more info. Sometimes they have underlying health conditions they weren't aware of. Sometimes drill sergeants push certain recruits too hard, and other times they're fucking morons when it comes to medical issues like strep outbreaks. I'd like to know if the number of recruit deaths this past year is any higher than previous years, and if so, why?

Story time!

During our first shake-down run in boot camp there was this enormously fat short fucker. We had to run something like 14 laps around this thing to be allowed to do pushups. This fat flabby sack had a heart-attack at lap 3 or 4, when we were all on lap 6 or 7.

Dude was young as well. Ended up skipping the pushups due to the hullabaloo with medics and ambulance and all. Still had to finish the run of course lol.
