Can confirm. Strikes at multiple refieries. The stations that have gas have insane long lines until they run out. Big discussion topic at work. How and where to get gas nearby. Consensus is best to go to big box store stations in middle of night or early morning. One car is already on a full tank the other only has an eigth left. Its bad though and I'm starting to worry about how to fill up.

Get some gas cans on your way to the next fillup. And maybe hope you have a moped or bicycle ready.

Have a nice scooter and multiple bikes including one electric cargo bike. We're ok I guess as far as mobility but the van is the one low on gas and we use it a lot and I need to do a bunch of lon hauls next week in it.

Weren't you on old Voat? Didn't you read my series on the Yellow Jacket protests?

Yellow Jacket protests

I know they went on a lot longer than the Western media let on, but what finally happened with those?

[ - ] Metanoid 2 points 1.6 yearsOct 11, 2022 03:08:17 ago (+2/-0)

They're still around, you see a group from time to time but their numbers have dwindled to almost no one. Biggest group I've seen in the last 6 months was around 15 people on a bridge.

that's sad to see.

Just showing some appreciation for those old posts. I kept up with that for a while afterward too because of you.

Thanks.

Glad to hear man. You're welcome.

Yes and yes. I kinda forgot those threads though.

See... you knew, you just forgot. Time takes all things including memories.

Nigers?

Maybe they should consider using gasoline.

Police in France are now checking your fuel tank before they allow you access to petrol stations… if you have too much in your tank, you are turned away. Shortages in France are forcing people to wait in lines for hours to get only a partial refill of fuel. 🔊sound 🚨 #France https://t.co/hPDu2w1fXe

Prep now.

Stock up on petrol.

I keep about 200l

Because it's shitty fuel. With way over the legal 5% ethanol watering it down.

Dont bother with preservatives just rotate your stored fuel through your cars.

I never fill the car directly at the pump anymore.

I fill up in the garage then fill a bootload of cannister at the station

It's the apocalypse goise!!! Everybody panic and apply your own faggoty meaning to this !! It's your own arbitrary explanation for why it's happening

See, this is why I'm interested in electric vehicles. I can generate electricity from solar panels when the grid collapses, and I don't have to worry about fuel shortages. There are plenty of vulnerabilities along the supply chain for gasoline; it's too easy to fuck with.

A gas to electric conversion costs around $3,000 for something really basic to $6,000 for something with excellent range and 400-600hp, and by doing it yourself, you can leave out any telemetry hardware either by frying it with the right frequencies or just leaving it out all-together. If you get two frequency generators with a reasonable frequency range of around 100mhz, you can use one as a carrier for the other to generate sidebands capable of hitting any frequency currently in use for such hardware, overloading the circuits required for them to function without hurting anything important. You don't even need the specific frequencies. You can do a full spectrum sweep just in case they decided to leave something out of the schematics. I've done this to a couple of phones for verification.

Also by doing it yourself, you'll learn how to repair the thing yourself. If you're worried about electrocution, get some thick rubber electrical worker gloves. You can use salvage lithium ion battery cells for cheap battery packs, about $25-35/kwh for the completed packs. You'll want about 50-100kwh most likely. When the batteries are no longer useful for your car, you can retire them to stationary storage for your house.

You should have a gasser too because there are advantages and disadvantages to both.

With solar panels, solar power plants always retire their panels long before they're dead. You can usually find them for $40-$60 per 200-320 watt panel with about 90-95% of its original power generating capacity and at least 15 years of life remaining. Inverters are around $1200ish per 8kw inverter. Charge controllers are around $175 per 40 amp controller.

There are other options like building a gassifier or running on vegetable oil, but both of those involve at least 3x the maintenance of a gas powered vehicle while the electric requires little to no maintenance. They are much cheaper in terms of upfront cost though.

Why do the French go so often on strike? It’s not that there is no oil, the goddamn refineries employees are on strike. WTF?

[ - ] Metanoid 2 points 1.6 yearsOct 10, 2022 13:27:53 ago (+2/-0)

Its the only way to get pay raises across the board here. The workers asked for a cost of living adjustment since prices are going crazy right now and the management that is making money hand over fist said non. So they said, oui will ze strike.

profiteering shitbags, it doesn't always have to be employers

they tried the same thing in norway but the government put an end to it
