I read an article where some guy crunched the numbers and found not even faggots went to see that movie. By his math, fags are 4-5% of the population in America. If they all went to see the movie, it would have been a smash hit. But they did not. IIRC, the number of fags that avoided the film was similar in scope to the non-degen demographics, just on a smaller scale.

The movie apparently had a mere 400k viewers. Let's use your 2% number for the faggot variable, that sounds less inflated. I've heard that America supposedly has a voting age population of about 250,000,000. If you calculate 2% of that, it's 5,000,000. So not a smash hit, but five million faggots did not see the film.
