Just look at a market chart and track back every seven years. It's like clockwork where the market crashes, drops, or stops climbing upwards. You won't see it unless you think to look for it.

In addition to the great shemitah thing, The Clone Wars season 6 had a storyline about the banking clan fucking up royally causing Palpatine to consolidate control over the galaxy's financial system. That storyline was right after the one where a fake virus and vaccine were used to cover up the preparation for mass murder.
