If I'm gonna eat goyslop, it's gonna be from a reputable local Italian restaurant. But $25 for a large sausage, mushroom & onion pizza (with tax, delivery & tip in the price) is fucking outrageous, especially when it's a local deal on those ingredients.
It shouldn't be anymore than $20 with tax, delivery and tip. This inflation is getting out of hand that.
Don't give me any bullshit about $5 - I bust my ass off at work for the little pay I get - My shirts are SOAKED IN SWEAT when I get home.
EDIT: Pizza is about a 6.5/10. Good NY style crust but the toppings are trash.

Sheiitt, pizza near me is 35 or a large without tip and taxes. Pizza is a solid 9/10 but always ends up being explosive diarrhea. Must be because it's made by taco niggers.
Yesterday I got a Hawaiian pizza and a ham pubwich from a small italian place and it was bitchin'. Haven't had any of that for a long time and forgot just how tasty it was. oh, and I drank an ICB Rootbeer with it. Absolutely superb.
[ - ] Gowithit 1 point 2.6 yearsOct 2, 2022 23:03:43 ago (+1/-0)
If I'm ordering pizza it is solely because I don't want to cook..
So the taste doesn't matter (too much) but pizza for 1 night should not cost more than laundry soap for the month. I refuse.
Never had pappa John's. Girl in high school used to brag about how this guy would bring her free pappa John's bread sticks and all she had to do was give him a blowjob. One day after school she used the payphone to call him she went his car , few minutes passed she came back with bread sticks. Smiling like she had gotten away with something.
I don't why but that has turned me off of ever wanting it.
and i totally get it cook can be bothersome but i prefer to do my own breakfast than to order these days at least til i find a good deal in some online restaurant
Hahahaha!!! What planet are you on? I want to be there.
We get a large pizza every Friday (family tradition) and just the pizza is $35. It’s the best pizza around (small family owned place) but even the normal shit-tier pizzas here are around $26.
The Midwest also has a lot of hit-or-miss pizza joints. Tonight's was meh. Undercooked - had to put in the oven on low for 15mins & it brought the flavor out. I don't know about my area, but all the local pizza places taste the same - Including the sauce - too much basil.
Want cheaper AND better. stop being a nigger and make it yourself. Premium ingredients, same pizza and size, costs maybe $5~6. Takes a couple minutes to "make" and about 10 to cook.
[ - ] Sector7 1 point 2.6 yearsOct 3, 2022 14:11:59 ago (+1/-0)
That sounds delicious. Maybe I need to lower my pizza expectations a little more casual. This post prompted me to look at these sets of toppings from the local place, and they seem fine with only a few toppings.
The trick is to liberally lube a low-lipped pizza pan with good fat/s. The crust essentially fries and won't be choke dry.
Directly on the aluminium baking pan with lip, or with parchment paper under it?
Your dads version sounds a bit light for me, but maybe... Mine have mostly had enough toppings so the underlying sauce is not visible. But I've also not made them at home before.
Pizza flour is made of finely ground durum wheat grains and is usually referred to as “Tipo 00” flour.
One of my flours fits this result for 'what flour'. Have some anchovy paste, truffle oil, last of the tomatoes, basil, and a bunch of other stuff that could probably make a decent pizza. General pizza dough recipes online are good?
This has been going on for while now. I used to be able to buy 2 poutins for $5. Granted that was like 15-20 years ago, but now I can get only 1 for $15 and it's much smaller.
Prices have been going up like crazy since the "pandemic".
that's some high end cuisine price right there for a freaking pizza. i used to love to eat pizza but the quality has gone to crap too and thats because they have changed the dough
i used to have an ex classmate that used to work for pizza hut and he told me one day doing delivery to my house that pizzas werent the same because the dough was being processed instead of doing it the old way.
anyways, i believe ya. i used to have family over in chicongo and it was expensive. but again 30 bucks for a pizza that shit must come with caviar if i had to pay that type of price for it LOOL
I could get by with one of the award winners, considering the pricing. Haven't had pizza for awhile, and I tend to like a few more toppings than that. But prices have definitely gone up. Toppings are $3 each when you build your own.
Looks like they've won 'best pizza on earth' at the LV international pizza competition 10 years ago. Still same people.
Great pies here local in Texas. $30 for a true large 4-5 topping with $5 tip is worth it for a two-meal run on a large pie. FWIW. Deep Dish pizza originated in Texas and was carried up north/east decades ago. Drivers here have great T/A so they get paid well.
Don't forget that the cost of operating a restaurant is more than just the cost of the food. There's wages, rent, utilities, insurance, taxes etc. and then at the end of it all there should be some profit too, because why else go into business.
Frankly $25 for a large pizza delivered including tip is a steal.
$25 for a tasty pizza with quality ingredients from a well known & highly rated Italian restaurant is a decent price depending on where you are in the US. But my pizza was subpar - undercooked with shitty toppings for $25 from a highly rated and recommended Italian restaurant. The crust & cheese are good, the sauce has too much basil and the toppings (sausage, onion, mushroom) are low quality - too many mushrooms, the onions are soft and not enough sausage - which tastes pretty good.
If it's a well known and highly rated restaurant then it doesn't make sense that they'd shoot themselves in the foot by intentionally using sub-standard ingredients. Maybe the cook was having an off night. Maybe they were super busy and quality slipped as a result. Maybe the supplier provided lower quality than usual ingredients and they had no choice but to use them. Maybe all three and more besides. One meal is not enough information to draw a conclusion. Regardless you get to vote with your feet. Which I recommend you do rather than whine like a little bitch to the internet because you felt you were cheated. Seriously, you literally stated that at $25 it's outrageous but $20 would have been fine. Do you even listen to yourself?
[ - ] Sector7 1 point 2.6 yearsOct 2, 2022 18:57:50 ago (+1/-0)
That sounds cheap, depending on the toppings. Imo, they should be around 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch thick, with all the best stuff in there. I used to pay somewhere around $35 for a good pizza, but obvs not some plain pizza where you can see the sauce.
"18" $36.50" (40 Cloves of Roasted Garlic, Organic Tomato Pizza Sauce, Pepperoni, Sausage, Portobello Mushrooms & Green Onions.)
Just checked the local hot spot. Tip is extra. It's a bit light on the toppings... There are cheap places too, with bread, sauce, and cheese grease 'pizzas', but they don't pay you enough to eat that garbage.
That's not horribly expensive at all. Last time I ordered a pizza (something like 3 years ago), it's a pizza, a cheesy bread thing. $40 after delivery but not including tip (I tip well so it's about a $10 tip).
If you're gonna throw money on shit, stop fucking bitching about it. Nothing about pizza is required and you can still make it at home for less.
I tell everyone that they should live it up. $25 is manageable, $50 isn't, and there is a line somewhere that a small restaurant closes and will never come back for you or your children. Same for vacationing; I never got to go to Europe in the 90s, and most of it (cities) I wouldn't want to now.
But no seriously it's nuts. Now what I find curious is I know some waiters/waitresses that are actually quitting their second jobs because the serving jobs pay more. With tips of course but enough to drop a second job?
What! You don't have a pizza plant? I thought Everyone had a pizza bush! The hard part about growing them is keeping the Italian pizza bugs off of them!

A shitty Domino's pizza in 1980 cost $4.99, which is $18 today (conservative estimate).
A real pizza may well be over $20. Especially in certain states. The northern Midwest has unusually expensive pizza.
