I love this comment

"Sorry USDA, I lost my gardens in a boating accident."

The best fertilizer you can get is a USDA agent that shows up demanding to see your garden. My beefsteak tomatoes will thank them for their sacrifice.

This was my first year for beefsteak tomatoes.

How are yours doing?

Terrible. It was so hot and dry in Texas this year that the tomatoes were splitting. I know two other gardeners with much more experience then me that let their gardens go to seed. It was a brutal year for gardening. This year was my first. I estimate every vegetable I got cost me 10 bucks.

Mine came out pretty good. Sorry about your splitting we don't have to worry about Texas weather in ohio :) they're taking forever to ripen though. Even the vine and grape ones. They're all grown up and ready to go so I'm about to pull them because the temperatures are starting to drop.

Someone had a great year though
I didn't post these in the gardening sub because I didn't grow them the church down the way did.

I need to steal their soil next year because wow.

I started gardening because I have a pal that grows tomatoes in NY state. He gets baskets of them. Brags about how much better they taste than the store tomatoes. He’s given me some pointers, but nothing can overcome 100 days of 100+ temps with no rain. Maybe next year

They do but ouch those temperatures on tomatoes! How did your leaves not burn off? Maybe a sort of greenhouse deal next year?

Well, hopefully your following years of gardening will be better by comparison.

Ours got all fucked up the same way.

These weird teeny little miniature roma tomato shaped ones did great for some reason. Dunno how I'd put a price on any of ours.
