Used to have a bamboo nursery with around 40 types out of 1200. Much smaller place now, so only a few bamboos I brought along, some 9' ginger, and my tree dahlia is north of 25' right now. Grows from a tuber each year. Light tree shade helps it stretch up through for sun.
About 8 types of hot peppers, a few wasabi plants, and had 6 potted pot plants that grew to 7' in 3-5 gallon pots. Oh, and that reminds me of two san pedro cactus in 3 gallon pots that are 10 feet tall now. About 15 years old. There's something about the improbability that I like about that.
Have a pink angel trumpet in the ground that I put some pots of tomatoes in, due to that being the last place to access sunlight not already claimed. My 'tomato tree'. Some herbs and other small pots in nooks and crannies.
Usually doesn't freeze, although the earth cooling has greatly reduced the number of 70F+ days in January down to a few, from 5 to 10.
That is really impressive. 15 years old? Its the only thing I miss about California is the ability to grow year round. Wasabi and hot peppers.. Oh are you the one I saw that makes his own hot sauce??
