Like he hated the people that came to see him. 4 months later, he was gone. That was my first and last visit to a comedy club. The vibe was so dark, I just never wanted to go back

And when they don't, they become religious fundamentalists, or single minded zealots for some cause or other. They throw themselves into some distraction to escape the pain of living in this world and seeing the flaws of the people who live in it, the distraction eats them up from the inside and they come out the other side as rabid ideologues.
If not a self-absorbed nihilist or rabid zealot, they become something else, they might become seekers of occult or scientific knowledge.
One thing is certain, they hate what they see when they look at most people. They look at a crowd and know even before that these people are the cause for everything wrong in this world.
