Not only did we blow up Russia's pipeline but now the German government is going to be subsidizing oil consumption in the middle of shortages? So Germany is going to be consuming oil at pre-shortage levels but paying us shortage prices, paid by government with infinite price elasticity?
That’s not actually true. When you introduce a price cap for consumers for a product for which suppliers must purchase at market rates there’s no way to accurately predict the total cost of the price cap in advance. Add in private energy supply companies as well as private raw material suppliers who now know they are guaranteed by the state no matter what they charge and you’ll quickly enough learn the €200 billion pre-policy estimate was extremely conservative. On the bright side the Germans did shut down pretty much all of their nuclear reactors because there was a big wave 6,000 miles away a few years back - great foresight as a people those krauts.

Also don't pay attention to the 20 reactors all the others countries are building within miles of the German border.
