What evidence is there that the US is responsible for the destruction of the pipeline? I've only heard people speculate on possible motives, no actual evidence. Does anybody have anything?

But this is exactly why Russia doing it is such a brilliant move! No one will suspect them, they score major political points against the US and garner sympathy from the EU, It pits the EU against the US, and its not like they were really going to sell gas to the EU anyway! Dumb. Now they lose any possible power to tempt the EU to act in their own interest. On the US side, no more worries about the EU deciding to act in their own interests, so when they crash, money and quality will flee to the US.

I agree. Putin doing this, and pinning it on the US gives him a big justified reason to act militarily.
There is another pipe coming from Norway (or Finland?) that will compete with NorStream, so the economic benefit to Russia from NS is in question.
What better way to rally his troops than to show Russia being 'attacked"?
Its hard to know the truth, but there are valid reasons to have suspicions of both Russia and US.
