I can't believe we still have real pilots flying planes. A drone with a ai or a human operator with zero G restrictions and thousands of them would wipe out any airforce with men flying them.
Our navy is obsolete China could make a million drones that would suicide our aircraft carriers and a week later have a million more.
Air defenses are pretty good at taking out slow moving targets like drones. Most are not even stealthy. Missiles aren't even necessary. Gun batteries are effective against them. Submersible drones are another matter.
Drones don't have to be slow. I think the usual thinking, though, is instead of worrying about making your drone better you just swarm them with cheap ones, though. But I know some countries already have jet powered drones.
They kinda do because they are too small to generate enough thrust to go anywhere near as fast as a typical fighter. And then you have to take into account range and loiter time. Need more fuel, more weight, bigger drone. Just how it goes. If you have line of sight on your target, just use a guided missile.
I'm just saying there's little reason to have a pilot in airplanes any more. The ostensible reason is in case your communications get jammed. That's what AI will be for. I didn't think pilots were entrusted to make many judgement calls, but I could be wrong.
