In Texas, we’re in the ‘fools Autumn’. It’s hot as fuck: new arrivals rejoice when it cools a bit for a few days. There are two more summers coming. It will go from 100 degrees to a freeze in a day, several times. Summer III ends in late November. The seasons don’t mean shit. It’s been this way since 1982 when I spent all my youth at the community pool. They would shut it down, then open it up again three times due to drastic temperature swings. Nothing has changed in 40 years.

When I was stationed in whitchita falls I'd be in 95F sun all day to see a 2AM ice storm that froze everything in a sheet of ice.

I forget what month that happened, but it happened for about a month.
