Wouldn't mind a shotgun with a magazine but not a requirement

Reminds me of the potato guns we'd make as teenagers.

Where do I buy it?

You don't buy it; you make it.

Mossberg pumps are solid and inexpensive. Longer the barrel the larger the bullet capacity. If you want home defense cqc compact is important but so is ammo cap so find your balance there with a pistol grip etc. For hunting or medium range defense shooting longer barrels are more accurate and hold more bullets.

Do you prefer 00 Buck bullets over #12 bullets...and do you prefer "stripper clip" or "magazine" in a pump loader?

Yes. What I would recommend as well.

Mossberg Mavericks are excellent guns. The shorter ones hold 5-6 and are perfect size for home defense.

When I was shopping for a shotgun for home defense (lived in a ghetto), I thought the semi-auto shotties were pretty neat. 5 or 6 shells in em and they were cheap af.

I have had a Mossberg 500 for over 50 years and it has never failed. Holds 6 and Shoots standard and 3" shells and interchangeable barrels of all kinds are very reasonable.

Mossberg 590A2SP or Benelli M4.

If you want reliability, don't go mag-fed. Mossberg 500 / Maverick 88 will serve you well for a pump gun. Stoeger M3K is a good semi-auto for a good price. There's plenty of other good options out there too, all depends on how much you want to spend.

Some of the new Mossbergs can run all standard lengths of shells, including the little mini shells, which would give you enormous capacity for a tube fed shotty.

There is a lot of good advice in this thread. A mossburg pump or 870 is probably the most accessible option. A Benelli semi is a big step up. You might lose some of the reliability but they are semi-auto... that is a good tradeoff in my book. The M4 has a large capacity and is made to hunt one particular type of game. 12 ga is the standard size you are probably looking for.
I have a Benelli semi but not the m4. I went with more of a hunting style but in reality, they are all pretty much the same and shoot all the same ammo(buck, #8/#7.5/birdshot, slugs, etc.).
The mossburg jm pro was also on my short list for purchase. Made for speed, fast reloading, semi, with large capacity.

870 and 590 are tops for pumps. Vepr 12 are the very best, followed by Saigas if you want high performance.

I don't know about the quality, but I saw one at Palmetto State Armory that seems cool. It is a bullpup style with a removable magazine and semi-auto. I think it was under $300. It could be junk though, I don't know.
I like my little Mossberg pump though.

The common ammo is going to be the hardest part of your request, if your lucky you might find a fully automatic glock 10 shotgun with a bump rifl attachment. They take common bullets you can find at any 7-11

My Remington marine magnum has yet to fail me.

And it's a joy to shoot.

Magnum that shoots shotgun shells?

[ - ] anon 4211371 0 points 1.7 yearsSep 20, 2022 14:18:25 ago (+0/-0)

Magnum meaning the receiver is stronger to hold “magnum”/high brass shells’ extra chamber pressure

Get a 12 gauge. 12 ammo is cheaper than 20 gauge.
For inside the house look for the mossberg shockwave with a 14 inch barrel. They also make an 18 inch barrel that holds one more round.
Get a flashlight or laser attachment on it too.

Pump gun, tube magazine

or

BP-12 semi-auto, mag-fed, bull-pup

If you want reliability go double barrel and learn to reload quickly. IMO

lol good luck finding one, considering Saigas haven't been sold new in the US for years.

[ - ] anon 7850191 0 points 1.7 yearsSep 20, 2022 00:17:50 ago (+0/-0)

Crap I didn't know that. That sucks. I wanted one for a while to compliment my Saiga 762x39.

If it makes you feel better the one you have is worth 3 to 4 times what you paid for it.

[ - ] anon 7850191 0 points 1.7 yearsSep 20, 2022 01:57:51 ago (+0/-0)

I paid 600 bucks for it. Izhmash real shit. But gay because Caliofnia, has a hunting stock and relocated trigger.

[ - ] anon 3572813 0 points 1.7 yearsSep 20, 2022 05:30:55 ago (+0/-0)

They're not too terribly hard to find if you frequent a lot of brick and mortar shops. Expect to pay $800+ for one. Don't even consider gunbroker or other online used sales.

There are some decent cheap clones out there by the likes of companies like JTS, but most of them use proprietary mags, which are gay.
