There is another angle to this. So if you think about it all these roles and all these previous movies that have appealed to white people have already sold the stories to white people who've already bought them and continue to buy them and watch a reruns and buy the same stories over and over.

So they realize these stories work and they're like if we put some black people in these roles then that 20% of the audience that has more money than they used to have 50 years ago and has not had any stories for them then we can get them on the hook for the same stories while the white people will continue to buy the old versions of the stories.

I mean one of the things that I realized is one of the reasons that free radio and stuff plays old white people's tunes from the 80s and 90s is because that's who's listening to free radio. Young black kids and young kids who have money to spend more than old people spend it are listening to streaming radio services and other things.

So a lot of this could be just flat-out marketing of trying to extend these storylines to a new audience that will pay for it again.

of course that doesn't mean that these people don't hate white people because obviously they do. But it might not be the only reason they put black people in these roles.
