I think the latest science on studying brains and also studying building artificial neural networks shows that every trait is actually managed by a small subsection of neurons or neural simulation links. And many neuron sections are oriented in specific portions of the brain and if a brain doesn't have those specific ones that trait will not be there. And I am guessing that empathy is exactly one of those traits. So I'm not sure that it can be learned

One thing I've noticed in these photos of crimes is that they often use a photo of the girl that is from years prior when she was young and innocent and they never use the photo when the crime occurred when she was tatted up skank who had rejected all normalcy and embraced the dark side. The parents want her remembered for the beautiful and innocent thing she was and not what she became. Now I'm not saying that happened in this case but I have noticed it happens in a lot of these type of cases.
