Yes, this is my position fully. If people are able to defend bodily or property harm then that kind of crime is over.

All we need are city/state leaders saying that it is okay, the laws are mostly in place, we just need prosecutors, police, and judges to follow the laws.

Due process is a restriction on the government. If citizens are operating on a premise of active defense then the demand of due process is irrelevant. Police are for investigating past crimes, not preventing future ones or stopping current ones. Our legal system is meant to be reactive. The active component of crime prevention should reside with the citizens.

Oaks, a former Supreme court nominee had the view that the rights that government holds flows from the rights that citizens had before government formed. The citizens cannot assign a right to a government that they did not have themselves, and that when we instituted a government we did not give up any rights in doing so. The activity of using force to defend yourself from someone violating your inherent rights has been moral since before law and delegating a part of our abilities to an agent to assist with that did not take it away. Then after that we applied restrictions on how they can use the authority we delegated to them.

Now if it's not an active crime it's a different story because it's no longer defense. Now you have the time at assess reasonable doubt and confer with peers (jury). So now that's the appropriate way to handle things.

I'm pro death penalty but life in prison is much much worse. The problem is making sure they never get out. The fact that you know every day of your life is going to be filled with the same shit of good days being long, unendurable boredom and hopelessness and bad days beating and pain is worse.

Imagine going to prison for life at a fairly young age. Over the years you change until you feel no connection to the person you were when you committed the crime. Doesn't matter, you're still not fucking going anywhere and will be there until your last breath.

A man murdered the store clerk in the Chevron convenience store at Cliff Gookin and South Thomas St. in Tupelo Sunday morning. A spokesman for the Tupelo Police department said the clerk was shot in the head during a holdup attempt. The incident occurred about 9:30 a.m.

The shooting victim was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Tupelo Police Chief John Quarka said Chris Copeland, age 26, was arrested by Tupelo officers about four hours later at a Moore Avenue address.

It is not yet clear what charges Copeland will face at his arraignment.
