I've used the Pomodoro technique in the past with great success.
Really depends on the kind of work you are doing. For heads-down type stuff (e.g. writing papers) it's great.
At the very least, it may hone your general perception of the passage of time and potentially help with delaying gratification by purposefully designating time that is meant to be free of distractions.
