What is up with all the talk about lack of workers for skilled labor?

No one is offering a living wage for a white collar job these days and they scream "we can't find the workers!". When in fact they are offering sub-par wages and demand an astronomical amount of experience for entry level positions.

What would you expect from American citizens except "fuck you" I'll take unemployment until that runs out and I'll start my own gig.

The US is gaslighting it's population into thinking there are no skilled workers available so we have to import our labor force. In the meantime white folks with obligations and families find a way to make it work outside of the mainstream "job market". You know, that one the Govm'nt measures.

Just like "inflation", the numbers are fake and gay and they assume you'll not (((notice))).

Have you ever worked in fabrication? There truly is a lack of skilled laborers out there. Most of the time if you walk into a weld shop, there might be one actual fabricator, and a bunch of trigger pulling monkeys that can barely follow instructions.

I blame public education and the 19 amendment.

It's the same up here and a 2 year welder/fabricator trade diploma costs less than 1000$ ffs.

We just hired a 30yo carpenter because he came to us saying "I have a family to feed, I need a steady job all year round" so we figured fuck it, let's train him.

We hired some dipshit straight out of the military with only a vague set of skills matching for $30/hour plus full benefits and OT. Really there's such a shortage of people and a rapid company expansion program in place that has already been financed that they were willing to take a chance on him.

My first job in this field was $15/hr with shitty benefits and people are now getting handed $30/hr without even having to prove themselves and they still cry about being underpaid and not having money to buy tools. Have really mixed feelings about this to be honest.

The employers got used to paying shitskin rates. Then they found out the hard way that shitskin rates gets you shitskin quality. Now they want to hire Whites, and get White quality at shitskin rates because, "That's the going rate now."

Have my own shop. Fabricated a steel chandelier for a customer, according to his drawing and specs. Western style motif.
Then he comes in, looks at it, say's "That's not what I agreed to." but then offers half the agreed price to cover his disappointment. Said, "Nope. You don't like it? Fine. I'll just keep it myself. Have a nice day."

He comes back the next day saying that he'd thought it over and he's willing to pay what he'd agreed. Told him, "Sorry buddy. That piece just shipped to a guy in Germany for his hunting lodge at a 50% markup on the price you offered. He really liked it."

Wasn't a jew, but, "Play jew games, win jew prizes."

I’m in my mid 30’s. My first job welding was for 11 an hour. The most I have ever made as a welder was 65 an hr plus 150 per diem at a shutdown. Most of the self proclaimed “welders” I have met are maybe 9 an hr.

Customers and employers cannot tell the difference between skillfully coded products and shit ones.

The prime difference in the two generally lies in ease of maintenance, changes and additions.

A good code making a simple change can take 10-50 times less time than a shit one.

But those paying the bills for the change are oblivious.

Hence good coders are diluted by the masses of unfit coders.

I've been hiring manager on several jobs. All of the candidates are absolutely garbage. I'm not even talking about skilled workers, I'm just talking about even entry level workers. They are all entitled, transgender, on drugs, can't show up on time... I usually end up working 60 hours a week even though I'm on salary because I just don't trust any of these absolute psychopath morons with a Philips head screwdriver.

I've worked in plumbing and HVAC in the day. These kids need to realize that a 10 hour work day still only requires a few hours of actual labor. Bending some tin and watching your pump run for an hour is hardly labor.

When I still worked for other people and before we got the farm, I did notice a severe lack of knowledge on any team I'd work with. Zero knowledge of they weren't White.

Sure the companies pay shit, it's been like that for decades now and it's only gotten worse. There are less people being interested, and I can't blame them when they could skip all the schooling and debt to make $25/hr when you could just make $20/hr as a manager at Sheetz.

Depends. Grease monkeys at dealerships, not so much. Specialty mechanic/fabricator/tuner for niche sports cars, yeah we do alright. Remember when you pay a mechanic, you're not just paying a person, you're paying the shop to keep the lights on, to use the machines, to dispose of oil, or coolant, for supplies used to fix your car. All of that gets factored into the price.

If your work is shit, why should I overpay? I honestly have no problem rewarding good service, won't even blink an eye. I do manual labor as well, so I understand what the people go through. I have a guy I go to for block honing, he charges an arm and a leg for labor. He has top of the line Rottler machines, a Bugatti's worth of honing stones. $3,000 for a hone job, worth every penny.
