Serious congratulations are in order for the sobriety you've achieved.

That's real cause for celebration.

As for caffeine, I know many schools of thought will lump all mind-altering substances together and, to me, it's in an entirely different league.

I suppose, as a rule of thumb, you could ask yourself whether you are drinking coffee to get a "head change" in the manner one would with a more acutely intoxicating substance, or is it more along the lines of punctuating your routine.

I can't recall the specifics offhand and, to a certain point, coffee is actually pretty good for your liver and loaded with antioxidants.

The level you're consuming at is probably a bit above that healthy threshold.

If you're just looking for a hot drink to hit the spot, Dandelion with Chicory root fits the bill surprisingly well, is good for you and readily available.

My favorite coffee substitute, by far, is Chaga. The extract from Sayan is second to none in my book. It has the viscosity and "mouth feel" of coffee and tastes like an unsweetened maple syrup (the Chaga harvested for this extract grows on Birch).

Known as the King of medicinal mushrooms, Chaga has many health benefits, including potent adaptogenic and anti-carcinogenic properties. Good shit.

Speaking of shit. Ditch the instant and buy yourself a French press. Once you try it, you'll wonder how you ever drank that instant garbage.

Anyway, hope that helps.

that is not sobriety.
Think about what that word REALLY means then decide if you are lying to yourself or not.

Is it water? Food? Is it nutrition?
No? Then it's a drug.

Caffeine is difficult, thats why I wont lie to you and tell you not to worry about it. The commercial world would happily let you believe it does not belong with the others.

My dental woes were not caused by meth, or cocaine, or dirty women. It was coffee and sugar. and the reason it was allowed was because I, like you, did not see that open door as being a dangerous habit. It was.

Dont get me wrong, there are lots worse things. Enjoy your coffee, just dont trick yourself.

I found some Chaga on my birches this year, I'm going to try it out. I had a conversation with you about it in the past and I'm eager to try it out.

Thanks for asking :)

I've tried plenty of offerings and my favorite by far is from Sayan: https://sayanchaga.com/

They also offer it with Betulin, a terpene that is abundant within Birch bark that has its own potent medicinal properties. I've had it both with and without and didn't find a noticeable difference in flavor.

If I was ordering for myself, I'd go "with".

I'm dyslexic and just accidently ordered Changa!

Never heard of changa before so checked it out and bought some. Going to take a month to get to me but looking forward to trying it.

You start by drinking less cups a day. Every week drink one less cup. Get down to one cup in the morning over the next few months. Then make the cup weaker and smaller over the course of a week. Then stop. Or stay at one cup. There's no reason to drunk more than one cup a day.

Newer research indicates that coffee is good for you.

I'd argue that alcohol is as well, but I've seen firsthand how your mileage may vary, and if you're one of those pitiable souls who can't handle drink, then I salute you for your abstinence from the stuff.

[ - ] PearofAnguishJuniorManager 1 point 2.6 yearsSep 10, 2022 10:19:44 ago (+1/-0)

For decades I would drink 5 or 6 cups of coffee throughout the day. I had acid reflux when I would sleep, I didn’t connect it with coffee until I began drinking tea instead. I feel much better, and that’s kept me off the coffee.

Quitting booze sounds harder than quitting coffee.

Well done on your steps. Now just forget the past and move on, dont be a nervous wreck. Substitute alcohol and weed for relaxation and walks in the park. Just recover for now. Once u get the strength u wont need so much coffee which is bad for your heart btw

[ - ] Reawakened 1 point 2.6 yearsSep 10, 2022 01:57:26 ago (+1/-0)

I'd say stay with the coffee for about two years. Once you're clear of the euphoric recall of the drugs and alcohol, you can transition to another beverage.

Contrary to the fake and gay but popular belief, coffee is good for you.
It’s got antioxidants, it can help the liver detoxify the body, it raises body temp so helps metabolism, etc.
Voltaire is said to have had about 50 cups a day (probably exaggerated, and his posse was drinking it too). But many other writers and intellectuals were known to have a lot of coffee.
Although, there does seem to be a personal threshold for the limit. The trick is also to avoid having coffee on an empty stomach. You must eat enough beforehand. I can only have two cups a day and with or after food. I can also not have it after noon of I won’t sleep on time. Apparently, there’s also a genetic marker for this tolerance. Some people are not at all sensitive to caffeine while others are very sensitive to it.
Anyway, have your coffee and your apple strudel

Replace with organic Green tea with a slice of real lemon and a shave of ginger or honey etc.
Coffee all day is really bad buddy.
But big Congats man.
Also look into drinking home made snake juice to stay hydrated in between green tea. The dude is a trip but legithttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iu7qZ3Aszs

healthy living is still the best method against addiction of any kind. Don't ask me now what healthy living is...

Look for stuff with natural energy. I switched over to Tea. Tried all sorts, find one that works for you. Get some quality tea, not just the boxed shit from the store

Going above 200mg of caffeine causes the body to release cortisol which breaks down muscle tissue

[ - ] Master_Foo 0 points 2.6 yearsSep 10, 2022 17:07:56 ago (+0/-0)

Caffeine is probably OK, just remember you are White and reduce it to one or rarely two cups a day.

[ - ] noonefromnowhere 0 points 2.6 yearsSep 10, 2022 07:15:18 ago (+0/-0)

Stay off the pot and booze for a few more months before you worry about the coffee. You're replacing two addictions with one that isn't nearly as bad. One thing I've seen that works well for some people is long distance running. You're probably in bad shape right now but would recommend you try going on walks at first. Runner's high is real.

If you can't manage substance intake, you can't manage "being sober" either.

Look at you, you turned "getting off" on its own drug. You're now chasing a different high, one called "sobriety" - congrats.

The most fervent addicts I've found in my life swear they haven't touched a single substance - and I believe it entirely. Addiction is a mental state first and foremost, look at the Rat Park experiment and you will realize like science has that the substance has almost nothing to do with it.

Which is why you've now just found another high to chase, aka "not getting high". Good job! You'll be chasing tails forever.

The answer? Just fucking 'Do You'.

Feel like the substances aren't helping? Don't fucking do them. Feel like caffeine helps? Fucking do some then. It does NOT have to be more complicated, and it only ever does because WE make it so.

Quit folding in to yourself, and you can literally achieve anything. If i have to bring up "in moderation of course" you're already lost and need to self assess. That's like asking if water is wet or if murder is bad. Some implicit understanding goes into being a balanced and integrated human being.
