It was a great summer.

One of my 3 plumerias finally bloomed after 4 years. Still waiting on the 5 year old one to bloom for me. I also grew Carolina reapers, Trinidad scorpions and bhut jolokias to make hot sauce. Just harvested about 5lbs of grapes from my 1 plant to make wine. The cucumbers didn't do well but that's probably because I planted them behind the acorn squash that did great. My honeydew melons aren't huge but I'm curious how I know when they're ready to pick. The carrots are so sweet as well as the pineapple ground cheeries. The pasta sauce I made from the tomatoes last week was amazing. Last night we had roast quail from my flock and my hens are finally laying eggs. Mind you, I live on a quarter acre in a major city.

This summer worked out beautifully for you!! Is this your first time with grapes?

And congratulations on everything especially the hens.

I've had them a few years. Planted them and they established well. Then that winter I had my house re-sided and the spics basically uprooted the plant. Last summer it came back like hell and I wasn't prepared. It wasn't trellised so most of the grapes were eaten by animals. I was ready this year and put up a trellis which worked beautifully.

I like to change it up every year and grow stuff I haven't before. I've grown mammoth sunflowers that had flowers as big as basketballs.

We had some magnificent ones in previous years as well, but not that huge!

Our grapes have not had any fruit yet. Nor our avocadoes. Looks like we'll get some peaches this year pretty soon though, and loads of oranges and lemons, and an adequate quantity of tomatoes.

Sounds like you live in a much more temperate region than I. I've have 0 luck with citrus or avocados here. Tomatoes, tho, grow like crazy here. Funny thing is I really don't like tomatoes but I always grow them every year.

Oh man, I wish you could send your tomatoes here! At our last place we found the perfect heirloom tomatoes and the perfect spot and we got nonstop tomatoes. We were getting sick of them too until we found and doctored a great tomato bisque recipe.
