I used those outside once, had to quit after a sparrow got caught in one.

I used both the glue trap and the spring traps. Only one was caught in the glue trap, but I dropped the other two on there for easy disposal.

I did catch a chickadee by the leg in a spring trap once. I let it go and it flew off.

Someone told me that putting olive oil on the sticky trap releases whatever is caught.

With a swimming pool please. And maybe a canteen where they can buy tomatoes with camp coupons.

Here's a mousetrap that would work even better.

The best bait for a rat, is another dead rat. They are cannibals. I used to rat hunt in the corn crib in my youth. The older, largest rats were smart. Patience and another dead rat and they could not resist, they would come out of the hole even though they knew I was there, waiting with a .22 with rat shot.

You're right...I put a dead pigeon in a live trap and the rats couldn't resist...even squirrels went for it.

Im sure you wouldn't have minded sharing a few but that a little nibble here and there no. Just take one and go. They pushed their luck. Glad you caught them.

Fill trash can half way with water. Put a rod across the center top, through the can so it can spin like axle. Put two liter bottle on axle, coat with peanut butter. Rats and mice will try to eat and fall off into bucket like Japanese game show.

Super low effort/cost.
Save Jewbucks for ammo.

I’d like to see pictures of your bucket after a couple nights.

Bucket and 3" of water works great for me. Almost too great if you don't check it often.

I use those stcky traps all the time...just don't forget where you leave them or else the smell of decomposing flesh will remind you.

No gore label?

[ - ] Wahaha 0 points 1.7 yearsSep 6, 2022 12:39:13 ago (+0/-0)

Really inefficient and hard to dispose of trap.

Use a barrel filled half with water that has a bridge with some bait in the middle. Also, the bridge rotates, so they can get on it, but will then immediately be dunked in to the water and die.

You can catch like 30 to 40 mice per night like that and dispose of the bodies by throwing them out on the field. Other predators will go for them during the night.

Safe and effective

Fuckers are eating my tomatoes too. I'm using the big wooden rat traps with peanut butter, but that doesn't seem compelling enough to get them all. Any better bait for rats?

[ - ] lord_nougat 2 points 1.7 yearsSep 6, 2022 10:45:35 ago (+3/-1)

Shekels!!

[ - ] AugustineOfHippo2 [op] 2 points 1.7 yearsSep 6, 2022 12:30:16 ago (+2/-0)

I use a mouse attractant gel. Not sure if that would work for rats, but I think it would.

Says it works for rats. What's your experience with it? People in the comments are iffy.

[ - ] AugustineOfHippo2 [op] 0 points 1.7 yearsSep 11, 2022 09:15:09 ago (+0/-0)

I have had really good luck, but can't really comment on whether it is better than peanut butter. it does last longer than peanut butter, though.

Just walk around and keep saying "man, I wish someone would loan me some money"
