250 mile range and eight hours to charge!

Imagine driving a gas car for 500 miles in ten hours versus the same trip split in the middle with an eight hour stop. Eighteen hours for the same journey.

And these women drove over two thousand miles like this.

One of the women said she loved the smell of gasoline when she filled up her car again.

Funny how the government and every corporation are working seamlessly to make the most basic aspects of our lives harder and more frustrating.

As someone who does a lot of driving, I can't imagine those ridiculous intervals to fuel up. I guess if you're the govts target demographic, unemployed "undocumented immigrants" with all that time on your hands to chat around the charging station about the luxury hotel Murica put you up in when you got here from the Congo and till they gave you a new electric vehicle, time isn't a factor. Only for the chumps like us who get to pay for all the Gibbs!

I'd imagine those 8 hour delays would also serve to cut greatly into a person's budget as you'll need to stay at hotels during the wait. Effectively helping to keep and middle class from moving up.

Drove LA to Detroit back to LA in six days. 5,000 miles, usually going for 14-16 hours. No way in hell would I want to go through Utah and Colorado.
Next services 105 miles
These two drove through reasonably populated parts of the US. Good luck in Wyoming.

I mean yea...duh

I can't remember which car brand it was, but there was one that let you borrow a petrol car for a week for free once a year for long distance from the dealership if you bought a new ev from them.

It's still emerging technology.

Electric cars have been around since mid 19th century.
The tech should have 'emerged' by now. It wasn't practical in the 19th century and it still isn't.

An electric car is more than just the car. It's the infrastructure.

Like a mobile phone.

The manufacturers are profit driven and so use large lithium ion batteries, because expensive parts leave more room for profits.

Small lithium ion batteries with hot swappable aluminium air batteries for range would work well but would remove a lot of monopolies

Its not the electric engines that suck

Its the batteries

Yep. when I said 'tech' I was referring to the power source.
