I remember there actually was a time when you had to plan for every business to be closed on a federal or state holiday and you had to make sure you had enough money for the day or weekend. You went to the bank to get enough money to last until things opened again. You had to call around to find out which groceries stores were open. Most convenience stores were still open, but they had limited hours, like every place else. Most gas stations weren't even open 24 hours. This was all something you had to plan for, like adults had to do.
It wasn't that difficult either, though you always knew the retard who always ran out of shit during that time. Keep at least 1/2 tank of gas, keep a supply of your food/drink of choice, keep a wad of cash stashed in the home for just when you need it, etc etc.

I've been on call 24/7 365 days a year for about a decade now. I guess I got used to it, sort of.

They pay me enough to pretend I am not, but I really am.
...until I go get a new job and get paid way more to work even harder. Until I die.
