yup i saw these steps in former communist country. political and religious dissidents were jailed or executed.

families were torn apart because they had to chose between allegiance to the government and the party or love to the family or God.

the party expropriated for itself all property. not only of the rich but also of the people of median income. my great parents lost their piano and a property that they had near the sea.

not only were family members put asunder but also friendships,neighbors... you name it. the state wanted total obedience.

propaganda was the meal of the day 24/7 in all the tv and radio stations. how the great and patriotic the party, the leader and the revolution was. schools began to brainwash people at young age which doubled down the propaganda

food were scarce, soap and other personal items too. the people have to think daily in to how to procure the next meal and item so they wont had any ideas or energy to rebel

the scarcity and hunger were blamed on the "yankees" while the upper class of the party and its leaders lived like kings

there was an association with the revolution with the national heroes and symbols distorting them for propaganda purposes.

they had constant meetings of neighborhood and setup a watch so that they could spy on each other for counter because they were on the look for subversives.

children lost their innocence. they would make them write poems and discussions on the merits of the revolution. you could hear kids as young as 6 7 8 10 year olds talking communist politics like the adults (brainwashing)

their instituted uniforms for the kids to wear so that they would show their allegiance to the communist party.

the communist party often disregarded their own laws. defense attorneys joined the sides with the prosecutor in sending you to jail. no innocent before proven guilty. if the state wants you to be guilty you were GUILTY!

medical treatments were often upheld from those that questioned the system.

people were called worms. thus dehumanizing those that didnt believe in the revolution.

the party leader enjoyed the cult of personality. if you didnt think that he was some kind of saint then you could jailed, killed or expelled from the country

people werent allowed to the leave the country and those that did were often harassed and humiliated by those that were in charge of giving you the passports.
