There is a good book about Allied POWs of the Japanese, King Rat by James Clavell. They also made it into a movie. The scheme was some of the POWs would sneak out of the camp at night and catch rats in the swamp. Then sell/barter the meat to the other POWs.

I read it back in the 70's. great book. When the POWs were freed KING RAT was suspected of being a collaborator because he wasnt starving.

Got a buddy in the suburbs who's farming Pheasant in his garage. He seems to be doing all right with that.

We've done meat rabbits for a while now. They're not terribly demanding. Hardest part with raising just about anything is keeping critters away.
