No it went downhill the day they installed moderators and broke up reddit into subreddits.
Once they broke it up into subreddits that just pushed everybody into all the same old categories that they had been getting from all the other news sources and they were no longer getting information from other people they would not normally mix with. people getting information from people you don't normally mix with was how a lot of people were getting red pilled.
This is not when Reddit started going downhill. It was already at the bottom of the hill when the CEO was caught editing posts directly in the DB so it looked like he won a shitpost argument. In the spirit of the post you linked: Gay.
