These people opted in to this program and are given the ability to opt back out. This is literally people installing smart device, made choices w/in that system and are now bitching about it

People are lazy and stupid.

I made the same comment on another post about the same thing. These faggots signed up for this "service" in order to get a better rate. Now they're bitching about it.

Just look up a wiring diagram for the 3+ wires, pull off the thermostat, and hardwire it to kick on the AC or heat.

That is explicitly what these programs do. These people are retards

The fucking thermostats are more intelligent than the dumb fuck environnementalist home owners.

While I agree these people are mentally-deficient for several reasons, what happens when furnace and central air manufacturers, via state mandate, switch their products over to only accept smart-thermostats?

Because most bad policies imposed on the entire populace usually began as something small-scale, innocuous, and even voluntary, and the more they gradually force green energy down our throats, the more they'll have to regulate usage because the system will become far more prone to failure because of supply issues.

In fact, I would expect any and all appliances -- from your phone charger up to your electric car charger -- will be required to have some form of mechanism in place to receive commands from smart meters.

It's better if data centers get the cooling they need than you peasant. Now go back to browsing porn like a good little goy.

These tards probably don't know the difference between a phillips and a flat head screwdriver.

numerous Xcel customers took to social media to express their shock and disgust over the situation

Stupid and useless!
There once was a time when people would have took up arms over such abuse! Now they "take to social media". What's That going to do for them! The people controlling their thermostats are setting back in their nice comfy air conditioned offices LAUGHING at them and their ineffective whining on social media!

Are people really so fucking worthless that they can't figure out how to go to the hardware store, spend 20bucks on a dumb thermostat, and simply replace their "smart" thermostat when it "locks them out"? They're all wired in the same, thermostats are essentially just an interface, an LCD screen with buttons. They're practically plug and play. Swapping one out takes 5 minutes, tops.

Edit: yes, people really are this worthless.

Take into consideration the number of dolts who thoughtlessly believe that their source of water is the tap, nothing beyond that tap, water miraculously finds it's way into the tap on it's own and flows upon demand...

There might be a tattletale alert on the smart one. Get a dumb thermostat, mount it next to the smart one, parallel jumper it into the circuit and set it to 80 so it takes over if the primary gets cancelled.
