The sun system can be treated as a single object when you are modelling its orbit around the galactic center. The sun and the milky way are two objects falling towards/rotating around their mutual center of gravity which is extremely close to the galactic center of mass since it is much more massive. The planets-sun are modelled as a single object because the influence of the suns local gravity is much stronger on the planets’ motion than the galaxy’s gravity on their motion.

The same thing is true of the earth-moon system orbiting around the sun. It can be modeled as a single object. The earth-moon system iand the sun are actually orbiting around each other because they are falling toward each other—they are attracted. But the sun is so much more massive that the center of the sun-earth center of gravity is inside the sun so it appears the earth is only orbitting around the sun.

The truth become more obvious when you look at the earth-moon system because the disparity in mass is much less between the earth and moon. The earth and moon are more clearly orbitting each other although the center of mass is closer to earth. The moon doesnt have to speed up or slow down to keep up with earth. Motion is relative and the video is only describing motion of the moon relative to the sun, and incorrectly at that. The earth-moon system already has cenfugal momentum which is negated by the suns gravitational attraction, keeping the earth-moon system in an elliptical orbit. Keppler figured out the mechanics of elliptical orbits like 400 years ago. Its hardly a gotcha. The moon isnt speeding up or slowing down significantly relative to earth. Theyve had essentially the same momentum for billions of years. Take an introduction to physics course with a little calculus and they will show you keppler’s and newtons laws how all this can be proven mathematically. The math works faggot.
