Flat earther recruiting strategy, does it work?

submitted by Her0n to AskUpgoat 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 10:25:54 ago (+11/-2)     (AskUpgoat)

I get you want to expand your sphere of influence, but is this shit slinging, autistic screeching actually bringing quality members into your community?

Why not make your own sub and sticky the introductory material?

From my perspective it seems like the flat earthers here are far too antagonistic to effectively recruit, am I wrong?

Catch more flys with honey than salt imo.

Flat earth. Quality members. Mutually exclusive.

[ - ] Her0n [op] 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 10:55:36 ago (+3/-0)

Someone is doing this math for them, I'd like to meet those people to have a discussion.

[ - ] qwop 8 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 12:01:49 ago (+8/-0)

Psst. I will let you in on a closely guarded FE secret. Ready?

Here it comes.

There is no math. It's all a LARP. Nobody is doing the math. The creators of this operation make it look like there's someone doing the math, but in reality, there is nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zip.

Pretty clever if you ask me, and they hooked a whole lot of fools by doing that. Because, you know, proper math takes a LOT of effort to do. And requires high IQ. Real raw IQ, not just being clever. But making Youtube videos where it LOOKS like someone is doing the math, not so much effort, not so much IQ, only being a little clever is enough.

[ - ] Her0n [op] 5 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 12:19:25 ago (+5/-0)

That's precisely why I want to have a discussion with them

[ - ] usedoilanalysis -2 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 15:16:50 ago (+1/-3)

Most math is just used to make rough approximations. While math has exact values, those values don't necessarily have anything to do with reality. Derivatives and integrals, and quadratic equations often give you a range of values. Quantum mechanics, the most accurate and predictive science we use deals with probabilities instead of whole integer value results. That's because the real world is not really rigidly mathematic.

[ - ] observation1 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 28, 2022 12:16:00 ago (+1/-0)*

So, A flat earther claims the math doesn't check out. Somebody responds saying nobody has actually done the math. And then your argument is that the world is not rigidly mathematic, anyway??

Do flat earthers even listen to themselves?

If math is mentioned, pointing out nuances is relevant, how? Surely, even an approximation will be accurate within 500 feet. I find your scrawling response to be a robotic knee jerk one, similar to one who screams in pain in immediate anticipation before they are even in pain.

If the care in which you weigh evidence is challenged by the scientific method you impulsively have a canned response about "siyonce"

If the math is challenged, you impulsively have a canned response about "quantum physics."

Do you have 2 brain cells to rub together, or are you a derailing robot with only canned responses?

It's not about quality, intelligent newfags; it's about numbers. More votes, more comments, more outcry if someone wants to argue with a post or if they feel they're the victim of mistreatment.

Personally, I enjoy reading some of their more ridiculous claims. Also, I never argue with them, because doing so is a fruitless waste of time.

A user posted yesterday about FE and how at 30 years old went to the beach to test for curvature. Something a retarded nigger could do but this guy says it only emboldened his FE theories. You tell me how you'd even start a fruitful debate with someone like this?

[ - ] UncleDoug 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 14:17:50 ago (+3/-0)

BUT; lets see if they are really interested in building a community or are just running a psyop.

I created https://www.voat.xyz/v/flatearth and will give it away if any of you flat earthers give some effort to build something of a community there.

[ - ] Her0n [op] 6 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 13:01:12 ago (+6/-0)

You shouldn't have even gone that far. If they can't be bothered to create their own space, they won't appreciate the space that was given to them.

[ - ] olinneserpona 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 13:10:24 ago (+3/-0)

I want to force their hand. There are users here(I'm guilty of it too) trying to debate them and explaining why they are wrong instead of ridiculing and telling them to fuck off and die. It shows a kind of hope that they aren't nefarious, but are just misguided, which is completely bs. They are psyop shills every single one of them.

On the other hand people attacking flat earth use jew commie tactics. Emotional attacks personal attacks name calling muddling the waters grouping all fe together comparing flat earth to global homo and jab shot believers

[ - ] FreeinTX 5 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 11:36:24 ago (+5/-0)

Conversations with flat earyhets are long winded and civil as long as you let them push their nonsense without oppo. Their "flat earth theories" are centered around trying to show the earth isn't round and using alternate forms of observation to explain phenomenon associated with round earth observations.

As soon as you get into actual flat earth theory, you get dodges, avoidance, and ad hominem/personal/emotional attacks.

It's one thing to find an alternative ways to describe things that you're looking at.

It's a completely different thing to suggest something that isn't actually true, and explain away all the problems with that suggestion.

[ - ] Her0n [op] 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 11:08:45 ago (+2/-1)

Well I'm here trying to understand.

Talking to them is exhausting though. Zealots of all kind are exhausting to deal with when their beliefs are challenged.

How does flat earth theory explain the internet without satalites?

[ - ] usedoilanalysis -1 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 15:12:16 ago (+2/-3)

Most internet is done via cables and antennae. You don't even need satellites for GPS, you can triangulate via cell-towers, and get much better resolution than satellites. Hell, you can use routers and physical hard drives and AI to map out a room without needing cameras.

The truth is we don't really need satellites for anything in this day and age. Maybe we needed them in the 60's and 70's to make long distance phone calls. Since about 2010 we haven't really needed satellites for anything.

[ - ] FreeinTX 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 16:33:27 ago (+2/-0)

So, GPS is used by aviation, and while aviation was able to use radio communications to navigate prior to GPS, there were spansive areas of the globe that the aircrafts position could not be precisely pinpointed. GPS allowed the aviation to abandon expensive to maintain radio stations and move to an easy to use, cost effective, way to navigate anywhere in the planet.

We have cables running across the Atlantic ocean, the Pacific ocean, the Indian ocean, all while we can't run cables across the Red Sea? okay

[ - ] usedoilanalysis 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 15:34:16 ago (+2/-0)

Who said we can't? The Red and Caspian seas are the ideal seas to run cables, usually calm waters.

[ - ] Her0n [op] 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 15:52:34 ago (+1/-0)

I didn't say we can't, that's not the debate here. I said we don't, and we never will. Saltwater would destroy the materials used that maintaining them would be expensive and impractical.

Most people who entertain the idea do so because for all intents and purposes, earth may as well be flat, and it will not affect their daily lives at all. It's also obvious that we have been lied to, and the only images of earth are CGI renderings. Combine someone's distrust of authority, and the willingness to entertain an idea, and you have the people you shoehorn into the title of 'flat-earther'. One could just as easily label you a midwit and imply you fit all those negative connotations. Do you have NPC levels of obedience and mortal fear of authority and power? Do you derive your sense of self by how accurately you can regurgitate google approved facts? Do your arguments amount to name calling while judging others by how close they are to your regurgitation and interpretation of GAFs?

[ - ] Her0n [op] 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 15:20:13 ago (+2/-0)

We had CGI in 1969?

[ - ] usedoilanalysis -2 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 15:32:47 ago (+0/-2)

Yes, absolutely, CGI stands for computer generated image. If you compile photos into one photo with a computer, you have a computer generated image. Also, consumer electronics are a good 5-10 years behind what tech companies actually have. Why do you think tech companies have such accurate road maps? It's because the shit already exists, they just trickle it out to us plebs.

You seem to think CGI is just that shit they put in movies to make them look extra cheesy.

[ - ] qwop 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 17:31:46 ago (+1/-0)

When I use my brain, flat earth makes no sense.

The heliocentric model has some mystery to it, but it's not flawed as badly as some other theories, like flat earth.

[ - ] usedoilanalysis 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 15:29:51 ago (+2/-1)

Dude, the standard model is beyond flawed. The model you subscribe to sees CO2 as a poison. Invents shit like dark matter, and dark energy in order for the flawed math to make sense. It ignores the electromagnetic forces from the sun that drive weather. It pretends like fusion exists, or is a viable source of energy, despite spending billions and being proven wrong every step of the way. Billions spent on neutrino detectors that could just be hearing random noise, are touted as great feats of engineering.

Do you believe NASA really went to the moon but can't go back all of a sudden despite advances in materials science, rocketry, precision engineering, avionics, computation, etc?! That's not how engineering works homeboy. It took 40 years from the first manned flight, to going faster than the speed of sound. The efficiency of the combustion engine doubled in twenty years just because of regulations. But we can't go to the moon again...ok.

I don't even think the earth is flat, if anything it's a torus, that makes more sense from a physical perspective, toroidal energy fields are the most efficient way for nature to organize itself electromagnetically.

[ - ] FreeinTX 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 16:36:00 ago (+1/-0)

[ - ] usedoilanalysis 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 17:29:00 ago (+0/-0)

I have to remind myself that not everyone has the same understanding as I do, and those with lesser understanding have egos protecting their ignorance. A torus while curved is not spherical. Toroids are the natural shape magnetic fields induce, thus the earth is toroidal. Your physical body is toroidal, you have an inhole and an outhole, this is how the physical world organizes itself. NASA lies, the truth is not what they say, that's why they're irrelevant outside of mickey mouse aerodynamics projects.

[ - ] FreeinTX 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 28, 2022 09:18:10 ago (+0/-0)

Understanding that the earth is round and symmetrical is not a lesser understanding than someone who thinks the earth is doughnut shaped.

In the current year we are able to determine the distance between two points on a map without having to actually travel that distance. This modern technology allows us to easily determine that the earth is round and symmetrical.

[ - ] usedoilanalysis 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 28, 2022 11:15:44 ago (+0/-0)

Understanding that the earth is round and symmetrical is not a lesser understanding

It is, because its not, it's an oblate spheroid according to nigger science man. Earth isn't shaped like the donuts you stuff in your face by the dozen, but it is toroidal.

In the current year we are able to determine the distance between two points on a map without having to actually travel that distance. This modern technology allows us to easily determine that the earth is round and symmetrical.

Wrong, it's just easier to approximate this way, fewer computational resources, it just has to be good enough, not exact.

[ - ] FreeinTX 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 28, 2022 12:26:19 ago (+0/-0)

And we can approximate distance will enough to prove the earth is round and symmetrical (no one suggested "perfectly symmetrical") not torodial.

This right here is what I'm talking about. Thanks for proving my stance to be valid.

This is simple, the water is attracted to the center of the earth since that's how gravity works. Gravity attracts mass to a center point, ie the center of our spheroid planet.

Debate can be had without getting nasty. Emotional responses need to be tempered more effectively.

No one is getting paid to show that flat earthers are fuckin' dumb. You can't seriously think this.

[ - ] Panic -1 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 11:59:42 ago (+1/-2)*

I've posted in that sub. My only real argument is that everything we believe on every topic is rooted in what we had been told all of our lives by the "authorities". Teachers, doctors, scientists, politicians and all that. But in my adult life, I've learned to automatically distrust authority itself and thereby everything they push on us. If a politician tells us something is good, I now believe it is false. If a a scientist says something is so, I say it is not so. Teachers? Nothing I ever learned in school is correct in one way or another.

Authority is about control. All so-called experts are presumed to be authorities. Regarding flat earth or globe earth, my best position is this: Why would they be pushing this? And what are they hiding and misdirecting us from? Best guess is not that I believe one way or the other, only that I do not oppose curious minds investigating matters for themselves. Nothing to argue about here, just matters to independently ponder. Being neither a flat earther or a globe earther, I am just a bit amused at how the people on this site, supposed skeptics on so many topics, the majority automatically stand by their childhood straining.

[ - ] observation1 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 12:36:31 ago (+3/-0)

In your childhood, you also learned you had 10 fingers and 10 toes. Do you still stop to count them to be sure? That childhood lesson is not less true because it was learned at a young age.

Revisiting theories is not what's in question. Its the acrobatic unwillingness to follow evidence to its conclusion. Rejecting evidence that falls outside of their paradigm by disengenuinely lying to themselves, is what's so straining. Curious minds, lacking the ability to be true to all evidence, is a jailed mind.

[ - ] usedoilanalysis 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 19:44:46 ago (+2/-1)

That's a terrible analogy. Do you use the curvature of the earth for anything in your daily life? No, you have absolutely no need for it in your 30 sq mi box you forage through.

follow evidence to its conclusion

Then you're not doing science, you're following a religion, soyence.

[ - ] observation1 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 22:53:31 ago (+1/-0)*

Are you responding in the correct thread? Something about not using the curvature of the earth then, more interesting you heard the word "evidence" and reverted to a "religion, soyence" word shpiel.

This robotic response reminds me of how people reflexively say "ow" when they hurt themselves.

The water in all these videos is in the Earth's gravitational sphere of influence, so the water will fit into that natural curve. This curve is so slight that our inferior humans can't detect it.

How do you explain water on video forming into globes on space stations and shuttles? If they can replicate this effect on earth, how? Why doesn't any flat earth group replicate it? Make a globe of water on the earth surface if that's what you think NASA does.

Water finds a level in that it finds a equal distribution of forces acting on it. In the case of a water level, for example, or an ocean, level is an equidistance from the point where gravity is focused.

Now, show me a case where gravity originates over a flat areas versus originating from a point.

Explain this, replicate this on earth. Don't use still images that show water in only one frame of it's form.

If a flat earther could show me a sustained globe of water while on earth like this I'd be more inclined to listen, but this never happens.

That's a good post.

Throw some water from really high up, it will hold its form until it hits something. It's easier to do if you have one of those zero gravity simulator planes, because then you can fall with the water and can be amazed at how it holds its shape.

Replicate it then, if it's so easy there should be no problem for you to make a video and post it here to support your claim.

Why do I have to throw around water, video tape it, and send it to you, when you can put some water in your hands next decade when you shower and throw it up in the air. You'll see it stays together until it hits the ground.

[ - ] Her0n [op] 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 20:34:26 ago (+0/-0)

Why doesn't the water in the video I posted fall to the ground?

[ - ] usedoilanalysis 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 20:38:06 ago (+0/-0)

Because the plane the video was filmed in, is falling at the same speed as the water.

[ - ] Her0n [op] 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 20:41:25 ago (+0/-0)

Where's your proof of that claim

[ - ] usedoilanalysis 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 27, 2022 20:45:31 ago (+0/-0)

How else do you get zero G? It's not because you're too far from the earth's gravitational pull. We don't have rockets capable of reaching escape velocity.

Stop with your reasoned, thought-out, commie attack strategy, FreeinTX. Or you'll be late to our organized FE attack methods meeting- we're still set for 12pm Eastern remember?

Are you using alts to cheerlead yourself?

^things flatearthers are always worried about

What about this?

Static electricity can manipulate water, I'd be more willing to hear about gravity simply being a type of magnetism or static charge than to listen to zealots like you.

No evidence, just screeching and shit flinging, yet I'm the jew in your opinion.
