It isn't just the batteries. The power plants, the cables, the transformers, etc. all need to be upgraded if this is to happen. More likely they understand that as boomers die off they will take their money with them (sell their assets, reducing the investments of others). No one after that will need to drive, and so noting will need to be updated.

The best thing for now would be a "revival" of sorts either with a wikispeed like project or remaking a simple and robust car that is easy to build and maintain.

Is this shit like a soft secession?

They are actually helping small business owners who make and maintain those types of cars, selling undocumented and untaxed.

Neat. Some day when I find out which states those are, I'll know which states not to move to.

It'll be all the states soon anyway. Even the ones who don't pass a law will only have electric cars for sale new. The Mfrs will stop making gasoline cars soon.

The manufacturers who want to stay in business will make them. That is my prediction.

Califailia will have 3rd world style rolling blackouts in 13 years

That far off, you think?

I was expecting that this summer, but we lucked out apparently. It's been petty temperate overall, though - so there's that. Hasn't stopped my wife from running the AC anyway, but that's nice when it's humid out [otherwise it's fucking annoying because I get to see the electric bill].

Maybe before then

But definitely then

You cant have tens of millions of citizens and illegal alien beaners driving all electric cars without massive amounts of fossil fuel driven power plants

You cant have your cake and eat it too

Fucking seriously.

Had a meeting with the boss today, and I am officially classed 'remote' worker, so I am cleared to move wherever, which is nice. Although I'd still just be better off just finding a new job, but I'm kind of a big deal at this company, for whatever that's worth [clearly not much]...

Anyhow, I'm kinda still leaning toward someplace not too far from Galveston... but Idunno. We gotta decide soon though, at this rate!

The electric bill was 200$ this month, I set the ac below 70 when I get home at night

Its pretty hot here in aug

I live in a non retarded red state

How much you think a killowat hour will cost in a decade and a half in commifornia?

[ - ] lord_nougat 0 points 2.7 yearsAug 26, 2022 21:09:37 ago (+0/-0)

We're presently paying the low low rate of $1.629 per kilowatt hour, and that's like 20some cents up from last year around the same time. So in a decade and a half, I estimate that california will have reverted back to a semi natural chaparral state, with trippy ruins and skulls and stuff all over the place. And there will be no kilowatt hours, because there will be only stone age living conditions, at best.

At least you can convert those skulls to $ Cambodia style!
