As a possible explanation for why various animal/plant life ended up the way it did, it provides workable hypotheses which some tards may be asserting as fact without direct evidence.

As for having no tests though, that's not true. The same theory has been used for decades to write machine instructions by evolution, starting with random instructions and a performance function to quantify success. Iterative elimination of the poorest programs and replacing them with cross-breeds of the better programs, with random small edits to mimic mutations, genuinely does result in a working program (usually with absolutely no way to analyse it and understand why/how it works).
