God I hate those fucking taxi drivers they are the worst. I spent a lot of time there and the ones in Beijing we're straight up criminal there was an 80% chance of bullshit. The ones outside of tourist areas wouldn't try to scam you but they drive like they have a death wish. I would tell all of them that I would give them 50rmb if they didnt scare me the whole trip.

Fuck that place I'm never going back.

Well, that's a horrible thought. Waiting for your Chinese elevator to take you to the first floor as a battery is filling the chamber with fire the entire way down.

More often than not you'd get squished in half as the elevator goes up while the doors open, tripping you to be about halfway in.

Plus many of the manufacturing materials are sub standard below par stright out the factory for those same reasons.
I read a great blog from some White guy that does business in China for the last 20 yrs or more for some big multinational outfit.
The entirely of Chinese industry and business seems runs on an engrained cultural practice/ concept of 'if your are dumb enough to not check every single item and process - then this is what you get'.

I was almost that woman at 0:13 once, sort of. Construction workers in Xi'an were just tossing sandbags off a roof onto the sidewalk. No signage, caution tape, or anything. Regular pedestrian traffic. Shit landed about 2 feet in front of me. It's kind of suprising that there's a billion of these people at the rate they negligently kill each other.

I watched a documentary where a school collapsed and killed all the children inside. It was a school for all the children from all the surrounding villages. Apparently, when it was built, they ran out of rebarb so the communists just went with whatever material was left. The filmmaker followed as they literally walked en mass to the politicians which was located days away on foot. After mass protesting, and I can't remember, I think one of the politicians killed himself for dishonor or something to that effect. There was some resignation, too, after initially it didn't look like anything was going to happen

Brutal to watch. I mean, the kids from like 3 or 4 villages were lost.

Without saying much about capitalism, the message at the end if the movie, was crystal clear.
