Get well soon!

I'm in this type of industry, I want to get training for these machines. I can't justify the cost because I don't think I'd ever get a call to come fix one. Depends on how good/bad their service handles everything.

A piece of equipment that expensive and precise likely comes with at least two full time employees.

Lol no it doesn't. Even with a machine this rare, this delicate. Any manufacturer is going to place the machine and barely keep it operational for as long and as cheaply as possible.

Something is off. Lithography is printing, ink. Litho means stone, jemstone. They keep saying this word. It's not what it means.

Yeah and the internet is tubes.

Printed in silicon crystals aka stone. More like etched than printed but whatever

Silicon chips are printed using disposition and evaporation of silicon and other materials. This creates extremely small geometry out of physical mass. it's not ink, but printing is a close analogue.

I thought the japs had the machine that made the smallest circuit.

Same here, but I didn't realize how important they are until I read through the thread.

Interesting Dutch multinational corporation

In 1984, when ASML was founded as a joint venture between Philips and ASM International, the name "Advanced Semiconductor Materials Lithography" was chosen and used as "ASM Lithography" to reflect the partners in the joint venture. Over time, this name has become simply "ASML".

Seems practical to invest money in duplicating the technology, or improving, but what do I know

War is turning into Hitchcock's "The Birds" except at 200 mph thanks to drones. Whoever quits tech to cut wood is going to get killed off quickly.

Now THIS is good content here.

Pretty much the most metal way of making something.

Were gonna blast metal with a laser til it bursts into plasma then use the plasma rays to tattoo this wafer.
