Well thank goodness she didn't spank her. If you spank a child they'll grow up to be violent you know. That's why White Christian countries were the most violent on earth. Yeah, she is very Catholic. I have my own way of understanding God. She's made some mistakes, can't blame her with ten adopted kids. She's awesome though. I have never been one to hold a grudge, and I know she did her best as a matter of fact.
That's a typical example of how rules don't make dumb people smart. She could have just as easily read the bible and seen Jesus as a pacifist, and been pacific herself but didn't. Child abuse, or being mean is not a religious issue. She could have been far worse without it.
It wasn't abuse, it was discipline. I was an unruly little shit, and I needed to learn to honor my elders. Even if I knew they were wrong. There's a fine line to that approach, and it was walked. Physical discipline was my mother's job. She was the kid raiser. What I left out of that little story is that in 43 years I never once saw my parents raise so much as their voice to each other, I never saw them drink alcohol. I'm a lucky fucker. I'm a man today because she was totally fucking wrong a few times but mostly right.
